With more than 100 years of experience under various names, the organization is the longest-running funeral service in the city of Madrid.

Challenge

Transitioning to a more efficient service model

Quental partnered with Madrid Municipal Funeral Services (SFM) to support the implementation of SFM’s digital transformation plan as directed by the City Council of Madrid.

SFM processes were not being used to their full potential, and productivity suffered from excessive manual tasks and revisions. There was a need to update the team’s digital skills and transition to a more efficient service model and customer focus. Challenges in supporting systems and technologies included general obsolescence, technology that could not be integrated with third parties, a high risk for errors, and lack of continuity with loss of service. Additionally, some systems did not support new business needs and had limited capacity for expansion. They were largely out of warranty and carried high maintenance costs or could no longer be maintained.

To ensure daily activities ran smoothly, SFM implemented a management control system, which was technically and economically adapted to their market and technical/functional sector while also ensuring adaptability, security, and support. However, limitations in data accuracy, integrity, and coherence persisted, and it was impossible to obtain and share information in real time. Master spreadsheets required manual updates on a monthly basis, and the budgeting process was disconnected from the business.

SFM needed a single platform that both supported the team’s current functions and enabled future development. Similarly, they needed a robust change management strategy to ensure a smooth transition to the new platform.

Solution

Adaptable planning, budgeting, and forecasting

SFM selected Jedox as its planning, budgeting, and forecasting solution, with Quental managing the project. The adaptability of the solution was a critical consideration because it encouraged an agile approach. For nine months, Quental equipped SFM with the best management control processes and applications in the areas of budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, including seamless integration with third-party platforms and the transition and implementation required. In total, five analytical models have been introduced, as well as six presentation/reporting models:
