Ever had a report with 10 tabs displaying at the same data for multiple products and the frustration that caused? Remember after that when you learned about pivot tables? Jedox Web has some features that feel as revolutionary.

The first of these functions is Dyna Ranges. Think of it as a dynamic list generator that can be configured horizontally or vertically. It can also be overlaid with another Dyna Range. The image shown below is a snippet of the actual Jedox Web Report Designer. Shown is the Regions dimension from the previous blog configured to generate a list vertically and the Date Dimension configured to display months horizontally. The data would be placed in cell 3C with references. The Dyna Ranges are automatically updated for elements added to the cube.

Another report building tool is the combo box. It looks like a drop-down list as shown above and acts as a variable for the data referenced in cell C3. When designing reports you can have multiple combo boxes and Jedox 7 enjoys a new list feature. The list feature is similar to the look of a combo box but functions as a pick list filter. It allows you to select multiple elements to populate Dyna Ranges.

Another key feature Jedox incorporates is success charts in addition to all the standard charts in Excel, but more on that another time. It is well established that charts offer clarity; allowing you distinguish significant data points and see trends. And with Jedox auto-updating data points, all your reports only have to be constructed once.

Shown below is a report constructed in 5 minutes that is updated every time data is entered. It is in a single tab, accessible online at any time.

With added pressures of cutting costs and improving efficiency, do a reconnaissance of the amount of time spent on preparing reports to drive decisions. When you eliminate prep time and streamline processes, employees can focus on improvements and not cleaning data.
