In our third post of the Jedox 2020.4 release blog series, we’ll look at the new Tracepoints, the latest innovation in Jedox Integrator and highlight new features for modeling time-based dimensions.
A seamless data foundation is a vital element of modern enterprise performance management. To integrate financial and operational planning processes, application builders need to tap into a multitude of systems, such as ERP, CRM, HCM, Supply Chain, or Business Intelligence tools – be they in the cloud or on-premises. In addition, these data connectors should be easy to configure by finance and business users with minimal need for any IT support.
First added to the Jedox platform in 2008, Jedox Integrator delivers powerful, self-service data integration, data preparation, and process automation. Over the years, Jedox has continually enriched its proprietary Extract Transform Load (ETL) tool with innovative new features and added a wide selection of prebuilt data connectors – most recently the new OData Hub – enabling customers to create a single source of truth for enterprise-wide planning. Today, Jedox data integration is ranked best-in-class among global vendors in user surveys, such as the BARC Planning Survey ’20.

TracePoints for Jedox Integrator
Faster debugging for data integration processes
Tracepoints are now available in Jedox Integrator, a powerful new tool for tracing a value throughout the data integration process. Users can set up a specific filter on a data extract or transform and start recording each step in which a value is changed. The TraceLog then gives an interactive, detailed analysis of all value changes. Integrator Tracepoints significantly speed up debugging – saving valuable time when building enterprise data integration projects.
REST API for Jedox Integrator Server
Enhanced performance and scale for data integration
Jedox 2020.4 features a new REST-based API for Jedox Integrator server. This API is highly standardized to enable even faster and more efficient communication between Jedox and third-party web services. It can be used as an alternative to the existing SOAP-based API. Both APIs cover all back-end functionality of Jedox Integrator, such as project creation, data preview, job execution, and retrieval of execution monitor information. The new REST API for Integrator server is in preview and will be available for production systems in an upcoming 2021 release.
New Attributes and Mode in Time Editor
More modeling flexibility within time-based dimensions
The new Time Editor mode “Extend & Preserve” enables users to extend a time dimension, e.g., add more years into the dimension, without losing existing custom consolidations and groupings, such as half years, quarters, or others. So, any change that has been made previously to the time dimension is preserved.
The Time Editor also has four new attributes: DayValue, MonthValue, QuarterValue, and YearValue. With these attributes, users can easily modify a time dimension and traverse it to a different day, month, quarter, or year. The attributes are automatically created and populated, corresponding to various date formats in Microsoft Excel, and are unique within a dimension, allowing easy lookup of elements from the attribute value.
