With December 6th we introduced a new version of our Business Intelligence Suite which is available to our customers for Donwnload and our prospects for testing.

At the same time we are changing the product name of the premium edition from Palo to Jedox. With the renaming of the premium version we show our customers that they are working with the leading technologically and functionally advanced business intelligence platform. 

Jedox 3.3 offers more than 155 new features and enhancements, including the possibility to control web-based applications using a touchscreen. Another highlight is the new architecture of the in-memory OLAP database which can process even "big data" at lightning speeds. In addition, the new version also reduces the memory requirements of the OLAP cube held in RAM. Combining Jedox 3.3 with Jedox GPU technology allows decision-makers to analyse faster, plan in real-time and simulate scenarios using large amounts of data.

Fast, flexible, mobile.

The new touchscreen support for all web-based applications ensures maximum user-friendliness and flexibility. This means the BI Suite 3.3 can be operated using gestures and fingers as required with smart phones and tablet PCs. In addition, Jedox 3.3 is currently the only solution that writes data back to the database using mobile equipment. Jedox 3.3 also improves the evaluation, planning and analysis of very large data sets. The new OLAP database architecture reduces the memory requirements of the OLAP cube by at least 40 percent and accelerates CPU calculations by 60 percent. This makes it possible to perform an OLAP analysis even faster. In addition, the new architecture increases the refresh performance of web-based reports by 280 percent. The optimisation of data processing procedures provides for additional increases in performance. All ETL processes (extract, transform, load) are significantly faster than before. Moreover, thanks to ETL visualization it is also much easier to model them.

Performance and Scalability

Due to customer demands, performance and scalability are Jedox top priorities for each release. Version 3.3 has a new OLAP architecture which allows you to now compress databases by a factor of 3 to 10 depending of the model. The new architecture also allows the usage of multiple cores for one user query. Depending on the query, Jedox 3.3 is by far the fastest Jedox OLAP engine ever. The new OLAP architecture is also optimized for extremely large data structures and models. Dimensions with 4 million and more elements can be built!

Jedox Web has been optimized in the kernel structure (core). For example, Micro charts are now calculated on the server rather than the client. Users will experience overall report performance as a result of these enhancements. For scalability Jedox Web (core) now allows the “worker-mode”. This means that as each user logs onto the server, a separate process will be started. The memory consumption of “worker-mode” process can be specified.

Jedox ETL Server supports now parallel job execution which can speed up complex data acquisition and loading procedures. All components are running now on native 64-bit environments (Microsoft Excel 64 bit, ODBO, Jedox Web).

Planning Application Support

Jedox Suite is a great environment for planning and budgeting applications. Version 3.3 enhances the write back by a new Splashing UI/Wizard. The new Splashing wizard has an intuitive front end for all existing write back and splashing commands. Additionally, it adds the “Goal Seek” algorithm as an additional command.

Jedox OLAP Accelerator (GPU) supports now write back and splashing! Customers can now use the extreme power of GPU acceleration for planning project

Report Enhancements and Delivery

A lot of enhancements have been done in the Jedox Spreadsheet. Included in Version 3.3is a new Demo of reports, ETL tasks and planning sheets. The new Bikers Best Demo, previewed at the Jedox global roadshow is now included and installed with the setup process.

A new web based component, the Task Manager, allows for scheduling report delivery as email attachments in various intervals. The Task Manager is also used to schedule ETL processes automatically. A third party schedule manager is no longer necessary.

Usability and Ease of Use

With Version 3.3, Jedox continues to make Jedox Suite even more intuitive and easy to use. Day-to-day used functions have been optimized. For example, Jedox Web reports can now be scrolled using the mouse wheel.
