Open Source OLAP for Controlling: DIHK chooses Worksheet-Server and Pal

Berlin / Freiburg, June 7, 2006 +++ The Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammertag e.V. (DIHK), the head organisation of the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad, uses Worksheet-Server and Palo-Server as a centralised controlling cockpit for their chambers. 120 organisations in 80 countries are online connected with Berlin through Palo.

The DIHK optimises its controlling process using Palo in combination with Worksheet-Server. Both products were developed by the Freiburg based Jedox GmbH. The chambers and their sub-organisations from now on use a comfortable web interface to communicate their key data to Berlin. Jedox’s solution was particularly attractive to the DIHK since the controlling specialists can set up and modify the web application by themselves without having to acquire any programming knowledge.

Palo is a memory based database which combines Excel’s user friendliness, productivity and many-sidedness with the high capacity of a multi-user, multi-dimensional OLAP database. Apart from the Excel interface, Palo offers interfaces to PHP, .NET and Java. As a front-end, the DIHK uses both Microsoft Excel and Worksheet-Server, an Excel-to-Web solution.

Palo and Worksheet-Server can link to existing systems like SAP, Oracle or SQL Server. Worksheet-Server supports most of the commonly used relational database systems, of course Palo and also Applix TM1 and MIS Alea.

While the use of Worksheet-Server requires a commercial license, Palo can be downloaded free of charge under www.jedox.com. In addition to these two products, Jedox offer a wide range of consulting services for the optimisation of controlling, analysis and planning.

About Jedox:

Jedox GmbH (www.jedox.com) is the world’s leading supplier for professional Excel to Web solutions. With the Worksheet-Server, Excel Applications can easily be converted into server based Web Browser applications. The Open Source Product Palo expands Excel’s data model and is available for free download.
