Jedox has developed an ODBO/XMLA driver for the Palo OLAP Server and enables all ODBO-enabled Windows clients (e.g. Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables) as well as XMLA based web service consumers to retrieve Palo data.
MDX makes communication between Palo with e.g. Excel Pivot Tables via ODBO possible and Palo data can now be edited with the extended, interactive analysis functions of the Pivot Tables. I.e. Palo users can now choose between Pivot Tables and the reliable Excel Add-in by Jedox to access Palo data and thereby enjoy the advantages of both technologies.
XMLA is an interface which enables access to OLAP data bases via web using standard internet protocols such as HTTP, XML or SOAP.
The standard has taken root in the market in the last few years and is supported by most large BI vendors.
The ODBO/XMLA driver is available now. Palo users with a support contract for Palo receive the driver free of charge.
