Hi,

which Transform you have to use depends on the structure of the data from the Extract you want to create your dimension with. Generally, you need a Tree (PC, NC, FH) Transform to transform table data into tree data for loading a dimension.
If you want to combine trees for a single dimension, you can use the TreeJoin (which is very helpful for parallel hierarchies).

Regards.

Create two branch of the same tree 2

Hi,

thanks for your answer. Do you know where I can find some exemples of Palo ETL?

I created my trees with tree fh ( first tree: customer-city / second tree: customer-salesperson).

I also tried to use treeJoin, but I did not get the expected results (see the attached file).

I defined a OLAP cube for dimension month, customer and measure (for example amount). I wanted to analyze the data of the cube for month, customer, but also for parent dimensions of customer (city and salesperson).

I obtained a similar result to that of the attached file, where the customers are duplicated for every parent dimension I created and also the total value (5507) is repeated for every parent dimension ... and it is not so good ...

Enjoy your evening

Hi,
... and it is not so good ...

Why is that? If all customers have a city and a sales rep, then the values should be the same...

Create two branch of the same tree 3

Hi,

probably because I'm not so able to use functionality of Palo.

I used other MOLAP software and usulally I created cubes with measures (for example amount) and dimensions (only child dimension where explicit in cubes): for example day and customer. Then I created trees with parent dimension (parallel hierarchies or not): for example month and year, parents of day and salesperson and city parents of customer (see the attached file of post 1 - 07.07.2012, 11:15 ).When I created the report I had the possibility to put by row the dimensions I liked and by column the measures. The total amount of the cube was alwais the same (for example total value 5507 like in the attached file of post 2 - 09.07.2012 17:28 ), but It was not repeated for all dimensions in my report. I had the possibility to drill down or up the report for all the dimensions of the cube (see the attached file).

I'm trying to replicate this on Palo, but the manual I use is not so detailed and I have some difficulties.

Regards

parallel hierarchies

Palo can manage parallel hierarchies? If so, what kind of "Tree Transformation" should be used? And in what way?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give a helpful hint.
