#0 Calc time is very Long

Hi

I have a simple spreadsheet used for forecasting, by year and month. When I enter any figure in a certain cell #12, #100, anything the calculation time is instant but when I zero out (#0) the cell it is taking up to 5 minutes to calculate, any reason why? ?(

Hi

you are probably using markers in your rules. Right? Writing 0 (deletion) causes that all markers are recreated in memory That's why it takes longer. There were some performance problems in models with big dimensions that has been fixed and will be available soon in 3.3SR3. Version 4.0 that should be released in one month will eliminate the described problem. Writing 0 should be as fast as writing any other value.

Hi,

are any workarounds available? We have the same problem, but our cube doesn't have any large dimension. All below 1,000 elements.

Regards.

If you have more such dimensions, complexity grows with product of size of all these dimension. Only workaround is to disable rules when you are splashing values and activate them when you are done. Of course it is not possible always. You could try to use special cube or database for splashing and special for calculations with markers. Or you can wait for 4.0

Hi,

I'll test my database against 4.0. A hotfix from support for 3.3 SR2 didn't help...

Regards.

Hi,

4.0 did it. No differences between writing zero or non-zero values.
Great.

Regards.
