User cannot enter a 0 value via Excel
Hi all,
I have hit a problem in V3.0 build 3969 where users cannot enter a 0 to clear a value.
Even with Splash rights against cell data, if I attach a new user to the standard poweruser group then they cannot enter a 0 value to clear a cell. The user receives the message Invalid format!
I have attached a picture of my roles for reference. Even with
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Rod?
RE: User cannot enter a 0 value via Excel
Rod,
did you make sure that they enter 0 on a base level AND numeric cell?
If they want to splash a (numeric) "zero out", they have to use !0.
If they want to celar a string cell they got to doubleclick and delete the string in the follwoing dialog.
But I must say that I tested it with a 3.0.1 release. Maybe you can attach a screen with the view / cell where it happens...

RE: User cannot enter a 0 value via Excel
Hi Holger,
Thanks for your response but the problem is more complicated than that. It appears that if I add security to a dimension so that a user has delete rights to one consolidation (D) and no rights (N) to another consolidation then Palo blocks the deletion of values from the consolidation with delete rights even though there is no overlap of elements between the visible and hidden consolidations.
I have attached two pictures showing when security does and doesn't work. For privacy reasons I had to modify the images but have a look at the poweruser column to see where rights are assigned.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

RE: User cannot enter a 0 value via Excel
Rod,
if one of the (base) element in the cell that should be deleted is a child of the consolidation with right N, it could not work because rights are passed on to the child elements. Maybe that's the point.
Otherwise: Anyone else got an idea?

Hi Holger,
Thanks for your reply.
I can confirm there is no cross over of base or other elements between the two consolidations.

This is strange.
Rod, maybe you can provide a small example db / view and post a bug report in bug tracking system (if it is a bug).

RE: User cannot enter a 0 value via Excel
Hi Holger,
Thanks for your assistance.
I have attached an Excel workbook that allows me to recreate the issue in the localhost/demo database.
I have put some comments in the workbook on what data to enter and where but I will also log this as a potential bug.

RE: User cannot enter a 0 value via Excel
Hi Rod,
I could reproduce it. Maybe you could post a bugreport in tracking system with this sample xls.
I even could not set 0 with no right restrictions on dimension products.
Maybe we do something wrong here but currently I got no idea what's the point is.

Hi Holger,
Thanks for confirming the problem, I have logged it in the bug tracker.
