4001 cirular reference found parent in list of children
I am trying out Palo and the Palo Kettle plugin. I get the following error:
Failed to add dimension rows
failed to create consolidation: Onbekend
4001 cirular reference found parent in list of children
I get this message when I try to import data into a Palo Dimension using the Palo Kettle plugin. Does anybody have an idea what this message means or what is going wrong. A link to an error reference manual would be welcome aswell.
I suppose something is wrong with the data but I don't know which record is given the problem. So if somebody knows something about error handling for the Kettle Palo plugin, please let me know.
Any help is welcome
thanx in advance
Holke
RE: 4001 cirular reference found parent in list of children
hi holke,
your problem record is: Onbekend
this element already exists as a child element.
@error reference: the kettle plugin shows you every time what is wrong. you have to read the error message carefully!!

RE: 4001 cirular reference found parent in list of children
Thanks for the response.
I prefixed the values so now the values are unique.
Why must the child values be different from the parent values ? Is this something specific for MOLAP ? In ROLAP I never met this restriction.
RE: 4001 cirular reference found parent in list of children
hi holke,
because molap has to know in which cell (please notice that palo is cell-based) the data should be stored. if it is not unique.....where should it be stored ?? (yes, i think this is molap specific)

Hi,
it is not actually the value that has to be different, you need a unique hierarchy. Parent element can't be the childs child element:
- Element1
-- Element2
--- Element 1
