Good day!

>>Is this plug-in compatible with Kettle version 2.4? Or it is just for 2.3.1 version.

That's not a plugin actually... Our _version_ was created on 3.2.1 codebase. Probably we'll make migration to 2.4 codebase, but not in the nearest future

Thanks,
Axel

Hi Axel,
I got a question concerning setting up a new PALO connection. I use PALO 1.5 RC2, Port 7777. I chose 1.5 Release in PALO Register and HTTP Interface. When trying to test the connection (Database: Demo), spoon closes. Trying the legacy interface, it seems to hang. Any hint how to establish a connection to a PALO1.5 server.

-----
Update:
Just defined legacy connection in palo.ini. Connection is possible now.
HTTP access via Port 7777 still crashes.

Thanx in advance
Holger

Write that to me - we do not have established bugtracking system yet.

Really strange - i'm using same version (both kettle and Palo). Could you send me description of OS/SP level? Please mail it to me...

Thanks,
Axel

Have you downloaded update only or full package from page provided?

The palo input and output is cool... good job.

I do have 1 reservation for using it... it's only kettle 2.3.1 (not 3.2.1 as the website states btw), and it's not a plugin. So I still have bugs that are already fixed in Kettle and if I want to use other components that also use your way of extending Kettle I would be pretty much stuck.

Will the palo Kettle version also be open source or not, or is that not yet decided. And how will you handle upgrades to newer versions of Kettle?

What is your time line for upgrading Kettle. Always one version behind?

Jan

Nice work on the Palo addition (since plug-in now won't be the correct concept) to Kettle.

Besides the current Palo (Cube) Input and Output Steps I would like to see Palo Dimension Input and Output Steps.

The Palo Dimension Output Step should basically mimic the Excel PALO.EADD function having options to select Connection, Cube and Dimension, be able to receive Type, Element, Parent Element and Weight from source steps and also have an option to clear the dimension in advance.

The Palo Dimension Input Step should retrieve the same types of data: Type, Element, Parent Element, Weight and as a useful addition also the level in the dimension hierarchy for each element. The last field would make it easy to do a number of stream lookups in Kettle to convert the Palo parent-child hierarchy to a level-based hierarchy (putting data for each level in different columns/fields).

From the documentation I guess that I should be able to use the Palo Rule step (that seems very powerful) to do the above actions, but that will require work to create the correct rules and then it almost seems easier to load dimensions through the ordinary Excel add-in.

Regards,
Bent

Great job !

Axel, since connection interface seems the same in Kettle and in Jreport I would like to use the connection interface you made.

Ca va sans dire that I will share the solution if I have success!

Can you give me some hins?

Thanks,

Paolo
