Inserting data via Copy & Paste

Hello,

i just want to find out, if PALO is suitable for my Controlling-Issue.

So far, i am happy with it, but there is one point which must be satisfied.

Often, we get a lot of values per mail. So our Controlling need to copy this values from that attached Excel-Sheet and paste it to my PALO - Cube.
I already tried it without success. If i paste values into the PALO.DATAXYZ() Fields of my Excel-Sheet the formula will be overwritten.

Is there any way to paste values into the Cube via Copy&Paste?
It would not be nice, if our non-IT Controller need to build up and import CSV Files...

Why don't the senders enter the data themselves into the cube? Palo provides multi-user collaboration combined with data security. It is one of the main benefits.

If this is not possible, you could prepare input sheets with a range where your controllers paste the copied data and a second range with PALO.SETDATA formulas that refer to the first range. It might need some VBA to make it proof.

The should be a context-menu entry for copying data into the cube.
- first select the source data
- then select destination range
- choose copy action from palo context menu.

There are some values which can be inserted directly, but some of them need to be calculated and edited first.... And I can't insert the results of a Excel-Formula directly to the cube, don't I?

Thanks, but I can't find this option! Which context menu do you mean? That one which appears after a right-click? Or in the ribbon?

It works with Palo for Excel 3.3 SR2. Please have a look at the "whats_new_in_jedox.pdf" page 21 for further dteails.

Ah, thanks! Thats exactly what I am looking for.

But I am working with PALO.... Not Jedox. And Palo isn't available in Version 3.3 ....

try ETL ;-)
It would be worth trying. You can set up processes with scheduling and logging and so on ...

imo, this "paste values in the cube" option (from Jedox 3.3) should be used for slight corrections, not for massive data imports. ETL has the big advantage of not involving human intervention, and thus is far more secured
