Palo OLAP Server doen't start anymore with no reasons...

Hello, until yesterday everything worked fine, I was able to use Palo Web on Windows XP and Palo for Excel (community edition version 3.2.0.5160). Today I couldn't get anything working because if I try to log in with the usual admin\admin on palo web I got this message:

ERROR: Config database missing or invalid!

Then I checked my C:\Programmi\Jedox\Palo Suite\log\olap_server.txt log file and this is what I can read:

2011-12-06 15:20:05 INFO: user 'admin' logged in
2011-12-06 15:20:05 WARNING: error code: 2002 description: database not loaded message: database not loaded

Has anyone any idea of why did it happen and, more important, how to solve this issue?

I really need to get my olap server back ASAP!

Thank you very much!

Hi,
Did you try restarting the services? Any error messages in olap server log during startup?

Yes and I also tried to restart the machine itself... But always the same problem!
If I'll perform a uninstall will I loose my ETL project?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

This is the OLAP Server log file: seems like the 'Config' database is missing... how can I restore it?

I have the exact same problem

I had to restart the instance on which palo was running. It went fine for a couple of hours and then I got the same "Config database missing or invalid" error.
We reinstalled palo (different directory, same instance), it worked for a few hours and then, the Config database error again.
Any idea what could cause the problem (and how to fix it)?

Hi,

from my experience, sometimes database files get corrupted, and the end of the file is truncated.

check whether the file end with the following statements:
- PALO CUBE DATA END (for cube files)
- PALO DATABASE DATA END (for database.csv file)

hope this helps

Its all there. Everytime I have to install the product again. Then it works.....looks like buggy product. To bad because I really loved the functionality and posiibilities.

well, it does not come necessarily from Palo, . The problem for me was due to a system crash (on windows, not linux), and I guess that the memory state could not be correctly commited, and as a result, ran into corrupted files.

On which OS are you running your server ? Are you sure about the amount of ram ?
